The dramatic exponential growth in computing performancebased on continuous transistor miniaturization for the past decadesis coming to an end. New thinking is needed to continuecomputing performance scaling to match the ever-expanding workload size and complexities.Prof. Seyoung Kim’s Groupfocuses on novelsemiconductor devices and architectures to enable the tremendous processing power and unprecedented speed that AI and cognitive applications require to realize their full potential.Projects in our group involve:
• Novel semiconductor devices and materials for AI
• Electronic synapse device design and characterization
• Learning algorithms and techniques for neuromorphic computing
• Next-generation computing and memory devices
• 2D materials and electronic applications
Researchers in our group can expect to gain expertise in semiconductor material &device fabrication and characterization, neuromorphic computing, and AI.
